Challenges are always going to jump out on our pathway and we cannot prepare ourselves for them! They show up in many varieties, many shapes and aspects. Whether it is a health crisis, a betrayal from someone we trusted, a loss of a job, ending of a relationship, financial woes, death of a loved one or pet, or a world turning topsy-turvy… when the obstacle and challenge presents itself feelings of emotional pain and anguish are riding with us in the same boat. There we are having been living through the plan of life , pretty much happy and free, when suddenly adversity strikes and life is not going our way! Our reptilian brain jumps in feet first imagining the worst scenario, visualizing suffering and trauma of which we will never be able to rise above!!
Our attitudes and perceptions want to provide evidence surely it is better to have this obstacle gone enabling us to jump back into our life plans, right? Wrong! We may find this shocking but no brain of any human was created to be courageous in the face of that T-Rex about to eat them! Obstacles, adversity, and challenges are the golden opportunity to meet the better version of ourself that we did not even know was buried deep within ! Life challenges are the catalyst of the super power of becoming the YOU who you were meant to be all along! Adversity is the sacred portal to amazing resilience —-IF we change our mindset and perceptions about the situation. Possibilities exist paving the way for any of us to be able to see our world with a new set of glasses, a new perspective, and an opportunity to embrace a rebirthing process that has the potential to transform us .
I watched myself and others when the world came to a screeching halt in 2020, a mere five years ago. This adversity for some was a huge awakening. For others perceptions are still wrapped up in either believing it was all a hoax or their finger of blame is still pointing to The Who they think caused the huge obstacle. Because I hold the vision we are ,as a total collective, walking through the greatest shift Humanity has experienced, I offer the invitation for each of us to reflect and embrace an event called a Pandemic was just the beginning of a major dive into an abyss of chaos. This particular series of chaotic upheavals in our Human Experience from which no one has escaped offers an archway of struggling through which we can pick up a Golden key to finding a pathway that we each can courageously accept or vehemently resist.
Should you wish to choose the acceptance path I offer some suggestions:
–Create and build RESILIENCE by first doing inner work and reflections of your usual and typical reactions to stressful situations that show up as adversities.
-Discover techniques to manage your feelings, emotions, and impulsive thoughts and actions by learning how to self regulate your usual behaviors to unexpected situations.
-Find new ways to self regulate your usual reactions and behaviors in response to feelings and emotions instead of acting impulsively. Embrace the PAUSE before acting.
-Use your positive system of friends and loved ones who provide emotional support. You do not have to face challenges alone! Learn to ask for and accept help from others.
-Reframe your obstacles and adversities as an opportunity to grow and increase your internal strength.
-Challenge your negative self talk when it whispers or loudly reverberates in your thoughts by rephrasing the old self talk into positive statements of reprogrammed beliefs. Train your mind to embrace a positive mindset using mindfulness techniques and meditation. When you practice letting negative thoughts pass on by they are stopped in their tracks! Practice makes progress!
-Face your fear about the challenge. Define the fear, and ask if what you are telling yourself is even true. Remember when you have been successful in the past in overcoming previous adversities.
-Think outside the box to discover creative and visionary solutions. Try unconventional methods to tackle what you consider a problem.
-Evaluate options for solutions. Make informed decisions . Take risks and dream BIG and you will see yourself achieving more than you thought you could accomplish!
-Be persistent. Do not give up! Make a plan to walk through the challenge, and follow through. Sometimes taking small steps leads to major and positive outcomes!
-Practice Gratitude and Self Care strategies of getting ample sleep, eating nutritious foods, daily exercise in some way even if it is walking, and BREATHE.
Overcoming obstacles and adversities is possible when we recognize and accept the challenge, develop resilience, practice an attitude of gratitude, and take action steps that lead to greater personal growth internally. Without adversity we may never discover our inner strength and how resilient we can become . When we learn to overcome obstacles and challenges the gift will be the SuperPower of Transformation into the best version of yourself!!!
